Lately, I’ve been noticing how even the quiet moments don’t feel so quiet.
I shut my laptop… and open my phone.
I bring my phone down with me to the living room… and turn on the tv.
I move from behind one screen, to the next, to the next…
It’s no wonder I can feel so overstimulated, anxious, or disconnected from my body when I fall into this routine. (Even as a meditation teacher, I am still human, and still have days of being disconnected from myself.)
And sometimes we truly need these kind of days. To veg. To watch a silly show or movie. Or even doom scroll for a couple hours.
But right now — is not one of those days.
I mean think about it, we’re constantly plugged in, constantly available, constantly on.
If you’re anything like me lately, and craving just one simple moment of stillness… this is your invitation to unplug.
This 10-minute meditation is a gentle tech detox — just your breath and my voice guiding you back to the present moment.
It’s perfect for that mid-afternoon slump, when your brain starts to feel like mush or when your nervous system can’t seem to quiet down.
You don’t need to send one more email. You don’t need to refresh your “for you” page.
Right now, you just need to be.
Affirmations for Presence
Try repeating these softly to yourself (before or after the meditation works nicely):
• I give myself permission to unplug and just be.
• My worth is not measured by my productivity.
• Stillness is safe. Stillness is nourishing.
• I am allowed to rest without guilt.
• My breath brings me home to the present.
Journal Prompt
After you listen, take a moment to reflect:
→ What thoughts or sensations came up for me in the quiet?
→ What is my relationship with stillness right now?
You might also explore:
→ What do I actually crave when I reach for my phone? (Is it connection, is it distraction, etc?)
→ When do I allow myself the space to just be bored, or to just be, without a screen?
If this meditation resonated…
I’d love it if you “Like” this post of left a comment to let me know how it landed for you.
Or even pass it on to someone who needs a permission slip to pause.
New meditations drop every Sunday to help you combat the Sunday Scaries
because I believe healing happens not just in the big breakthroughs, but in these small, gentle consistent returns to self.
Until next week,
